The Byadh of India

The Byadh of India, numbering approximately 1,200 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a little-known Bengali-speaking community of Nadia, Burdwan and Murshidabad districts whose name derives from badh, meaning killing, and who trace descent from Kalketu Byadh. They traditionally catch and sell birds. They are an Indigenous people in the Bengali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Bengali and their primary religion is Hinduism.
