They are a caste community of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, the Aguru are Telugu-speaking Hindu cultivators and sellers of betel leaves and vegetables, traditionally engaged in horticulture and now primarily working as agricultural laborers. They mostly adhere to Hinduism and Telugu is their primary language.
