The Cherua of India

The Cherua of India, numbering approximately 1,100 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste Hindu community of Odisha whose name derives from chheli, meaning goat, traditionally engaged in goat rearing, agriculture, and dairying. They are an endogamous, Odia-speaking people concentrated in Puri and Ganjam. They are an Indigenous people in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Odia and their primary religion is Hinduism.
