The Kavuthiyan of India

The Kavuthiyan of India, numbering approximately 31,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are an occupational caste of barbers in Kerala and Tamil Nadu who speak Malayalam and Tamil respectively. The Kavuthiyan traditionally serve the Tiyan and other communities, with women historically working as midwives. They are an Indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Malayalam and their primary religion is Hinduism.
