The Bhuiyar of India

The Bhuiyar of India, numbering approximately 42,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as one of the largest and most widespread indigenous (Adivasi) peoples of eastern and central India. They are best known historically as “people of the land”, with deep ties to agriculture, forests, and local kingship rituals They are an Indigenous people, with Bhuyiar / Bhuiyar as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. They mostly adhere to Hinduism and Hindi is their primary language.
