The Banpar of India

The Banpar of India, numbering approximately 23,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are an Angika-speaking agricultural and fishing community of northern Bihar who trace their descent to a Nishada ruler. They are known to neighbors as Mondal, are organized into eight endogamous subgroups. They are an Indigenous people in the Mallah people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Angika and their primary religion is Hinduism.
