They are a Mayan ethnolinguistic community indigenous to the central highlands of Chiapas, Mexico and can also be known as San Bartolomé Venustiano Carranza Tzotzil. They are an Diaspora people, in the Maya people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Roman Catholicism. They primarily speak Tzotzil.
