They are an ethno-linguistic subgroup of the Mixtec, an indigenous Mesoamerican people of Mexico and can also be known as To’on Savi, Mixteco de Xochapa, Alacatlatzala; Mixtec, Mixteco de San Rafael; Mixtec, Alcozauca, Alacatlatzala, Alcozauca; Mixteco de Xochapa; Highland Guerrero Mixtec; Mixteco de Alacatlatzala; To’on Savi, Highland Guerrero Mixtec, Mixtec, Mixteco de Alacatlatzala, Mixtec, Mixteco de San Rafael. They are an Diaspora people, in the Mixtec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Roman Catholicism. They primarily speak Mixtec, Metlatónoc.
