The Sahisia of India

The Sahisia of India, numbering approximately 10,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Muslim community of Bihar descended from grooms of local zamindars who became veterinary quacks, their name recalling this earlier occupation. Rickshaw-pulling and petty business have largely replaced cattle-doctoring. They are an Indigenous people in the Bihari people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Urdu and their primary religion is Sunni Islam.
