The Bagti of India

The Bagti of India, numbering approximately 275 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Bengali-speaking endogamous community of Purulia district on the Chotanagpur plateau, traditionally engaged in manufacturing lime from limestone and snail shells alongside small-scale farming and sharecropping. They are also known as Bakti. They are an Indigenous people in the Bihari people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Bengali and their primary religion is Protestantism.
