The Tharua of India, numbering approximately 650 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a scheduled Hindu tribe of India, inhabiting northern Odisha, especially the Balasore district. Their traditional occupation is pottery, stone-cutting and engraving, but in recent decades they have taken up cultivation They are an Indigenous people, with Tharua as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the South Asian Tribal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Odia.
