They are described as an Indo-Aryan ethnolinguistic group indigenous to the Indian state of Odisha They are an Indigenous people, with Oriya as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Odia.
