The Sahi of India

The Sahi of India, numbering approximately 1,900 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a community of Maharashtra and West Bengal descended from horse-grooms and tamers under Islamic rulers, their name meaning groom. Masonry and agricultural labor have replaced horse-taming. They are an Indigenous people in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Marathi and their primary religion is Hinduism.
