The Hatkar of India, numbering approximately 419,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as a caste community of Parbhani and Beed districts in Maharashtra, a branch of the Dhangar shepherd caste. They are now primarily agriculturists and agricultural laborers They are an Indigenous people, with Hatkar as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Marathi.
