The Durango Nahuatl of Mexico

The Durango Nahuatl of Mexico, numbering approximately 1,600 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Nahuatl-speaking enclave of San Pedro Jicora in Durango, Mexico, likely descended from Tlaxcaltecan allies the Spanish resettled among Tepehuan and Huichol territory in the 1500s, now reduced to a small remnant community. They mostly adhere to Folk Catholicism and Western Durango Nahuatl is their primary language.
