Though traditionally associated with leather work and tanning, Regar and Jatav Chamars are now part of the broader agricultural and urban labor force and can also be known as Chamehar, Regar, Jatav, Ramdasia, Chambhar, Chamar. They are an Indigenous people, in the Chamar people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Dhundari.
