Historically, they have been associated with pastoralism, cattle herding, dairy production, agriculture, and, in some regions, nomadic or semi-nomadic lifestyles. They are an Indigenous people in the Gujjar people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Hindi and their primary religion is Hinduism.
