They are a Tibetan ethnic group indigenous to the Ladakh region, a disputed territory of Jammu Kashmir in northeastern India and the Tibet Autonomous Region of southwestern China They are an Indigenous people, in the Tibetan people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Buddhism - Tibetan. They primarily speak Ladakhi.
