They are a priestly community of India and can also be known as Mohyal Brahman, Sharma, Pandit, Dakaut, Pant, Bhojru, Purohit. They are an Indigenous people, in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Kashmiri.
