They are a priestly community of India and can also be known as Viswa Brahman, Solia Brahman, Kokanastha, Kota Brahman, Madhwa Brahman, Prathama Sakha, Smata Brahman, Hawyak Brahman. They are an Indigenous people, in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Kannada.
