They are an indigenous community of Canada, descendants of the French who settled in the colony of Acadia during the 17th and 18th centuries. They are also known as Acadiens. They are an Indigenous people in the French people cluster of the Eurasian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is French and their primary religion is Roman Catholicism.
