The Mukri of India

The Mukri of India, numbering approximately 15,500 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of Uttar Kannada district in Karnataka, also called Ganji or Hebbe Gauda, believed to have migrated from Andhra Pradesh. Fishing and farm labor remain their occupations. They mostly adhere to Hinduism and Kannada is their primary language.
