They are an occupational caste of Telugu-speaking performers and agricultural laborers found in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, traditionally associated with folk-drama, mimicry and entertainment. They are an Indigenous people in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Telugu and their primary religion is Hinduism.
