The Sikligar of India

The Sikligar of India, numbering approximately 177,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a metal-polishing community found across twelve states from Himachal Pradesh to Andhra Pradesh, their name from the Arabic word for a polisher of metal. Sword-sharpening has given way to making locks, utensils, and iron implements. They are an Indigenous people in the Punjabi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Hindi and their primary religion is Hinduism.
