Service and business remain their main occupations, historically as rent-receivers and revenue officials They are an Indigenous people, with Pathare Prabhu as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Gujarati.
