The Baig of India

The Baig of India, numbering approximately 27,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as an Urdu-speaking Sunni Muslim community of Tamil Nadu who identify themselves as Mughal in origin. Traditionally endogamous and largely landless, most Baig earn their living through petty business They are an Indigenous people, with Baig as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Urdu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. They mostly adhere to Sunni Islam and Urdu is their primary language.
