The Baig of India

The Baig of India, numbering approximately 27,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are an Urdu-speaking Sunni Muslim community of Tamil Nadu who identify themselves as Mughal in origin. Traditionally endogamous and largely landless, most Baig earn their living through petty business. They are an Indigenous people in the Urdu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Urdu and their primary religion is Sunni Islam.
