The Sankara of India

The Sankara of India, numbering approximately 69,500 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a conch-shell craftsman community of West Bengal and Odisha, one of the nine traditional artisan castes, believed descended from Lord Shiva and Parvati or trained by Sage Agastya. Shell-craft remains practiced, alongside business. They mostly adhere to Hinduism and Bengali is their primary language.

Begin training up local leaders to lead and develop strategies to reach their own people

Pray specifically for the Sankara of India

For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
readPsalm 96:5

Pray that those who are seeking after worthless idols will not be satisfied until they seek the truth and find it in Christ.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
readJohn 8:12

Pray that many will come to know Jesus, the light of the world, and have the light of life instead of walking in darkness.

For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.
read1 Corinthians 9:19

Pray that as people place their faith in Christ, they will have hearts that want to serve the lost around them so that many might come to faith in Jesus.

For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
readActs 13:47

Pray that as people come to faith, they will follow the Lord's leading to go to their neighbors and share the treasure they found in Christ.
