The Uraly of India

The Uraly of India, numbering approximately 30,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Tribe of Idukki district, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, tracing descent from a legendary soldier named Mutturaja. Settled cultivation and wage labor have replaced their traditional shifting cultivation and foraging. They are an Indigenous people in the South Asian Tribal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Malayalam and their primary religion is Animism.
