They are a small Hindu agricultural caste from coastal Odisha, traditionally working as farmers and laborers, with a localized identity, clan structure, and Odia language background. They are an Indigenous people in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Odia and their primary religion is Hinduism.
