The Hira of India

The Hira of India, numbering approximately 81,500 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are an Assamese-speaking Scheduled Caste community of the lower Brahmaputra valley in Assam, Vaishnavite Hindu by faith. They are traditionally potters who still practice pot-making today. They are an Indigenous people in the Assamese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Assamese and their primary religion is Folk Hinduism.
