The Bhumia of India

The Bhumia of India, numbering approximately 192,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as a Scheduled Tribe regarded as early settlers of the Jabalpur region of Madhya Pradesh, whose name derives from bhumi, meaning land. They are largely Hindu agricultural laborers with clan-based social organization and ancestor worship They are an Indigenous people, with Bhumia as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the South Asian Tribal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism. They primarily speak Odia.
