They are a community of India and can also be known as Vidiyar, Valluvan, Alwar, Dadar, Pandaram, Vallon, Valuvan, Iyyer, Parayasathi, Valluvar, Thi, Valuvan, Nainar, Thiru Vallvar, Vanji, Joshiar, Jyotidar, Viniar. They are an Indigenous people, in the Tamil people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Tamil.
