The Vannan of India

The Vannan of India, numbering approximately 1,075,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a washing community of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, claiming descent from the mythological Virabadhra ordered by Shiva to wash clothes. This traditional trade continues, supplemented by daily-wage labor. They are an Indigenous people in the Dhobi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Tamil and their primary religion is Hinduism.
