The Kanakkan of India

The Kanakkan of India, numbering approximately 338,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste community of Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts in Kerala traditionally engaged in plucking coconuts and tapping toddy from palm trees. The Kanakkan are now mostly landless agricultural laborers. They are an Indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Malayalam and their primary religion is Hinduism.
