The Baidya of India

The Baidya of India, numbering approximately 641,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as a Bengali Hindu community of traditional ayurvedic physicians, whose name derives from the Sanskrit word for medical practitioner. Concentrated in West Bengal and Tripura, many have diversified into professional service and business They are an Indigenous people, with Baidya as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Bengali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Bengali.
