The Vellalar of India, numbering approximately 3,100,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a widespread cultivating community of Tamil Nadu and Kerala tracing its historical past to the Chera, Chola, and Pandya dynasties, their name recalling cultivation. Settled agriculture remains their principal occupation. They are an Indigenous people in the Tamil people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Tamil and their primary religion is Hinduism.
