The Cheruman of India

The Cheruman of India, numbering approximately 471,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Malayalam-speaking Dalit community of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, historically agricultural serfs whose name is said to derive from Cheraman, the people of the ancient Chera country. They are also known as Cherumakkal, meaning sons of the soil. They are an Indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Malayalam and their primary religion is Hinduism.
