They are a community of India, spread over the states of West Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Goa and can also be known as Bogar, Jamera, Kanchugara, Otari, Kanchari, Kansar, Kasera. They are an Indigenous people, in the Bengali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Marathi.
