The Pulayan of India

The Pulayan of India, numbering approximately 1,555,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of Kerala and Tamil Nadu organized into lineages, historically agricultural serfs under a hereditary Pulaya chieftain. Agricultural labor and cultivation remain common, supplemented by government and private service. They are an Indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Malayalam and their primary religion is Protestantism.
