They are described as a historically marginalized, caste‑based community found across many regions of India, best known for traditional roles connected with death, cremation, sanitation, and manual services They are an Indigenous people, with Dom / Domar / Domban as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Odia.
