They are an ethnocultural community of northern India and Nepal and can also be known as Koiry, Koeri, Mauriya, Kushwaha, Kuiri, Dangi. They are an Indigenous people, in the Other South Asian people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Magahi.
