They are an ethnolinguisic subgroup of the Zapotec, an ethnic group indigenous to the state of Oaxaca, Mexico and can also be known as Zapoteco de San Pedro Totomachapan, Western Zimatlán Zapotec; Zapoteco de San Pedro Totomachapan, Totomachapec, Western Zimatlán Zapotec. They are an Indigenous people, in the Zapotec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Spanish.
