They are an ethnolinguisic subgroup of the Zapotec, an ethnic group indigenous to the state of Oaxaca, Mexico and can also be known as Northern Isthmus Zapotec; Zapoteco de Guevea de Humboldt, Zapoteco de Guevea de Humbolt, Zapoteco de Guevea de Humboldt, Northern Isthmus Zapotec, Northern Isthums Zapotec. They are an Indigenous people, in the Zapotec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Spanish.
