They are an indigenous Mixtec (Ñuu Savi) people group from southern Mexico, specifically associated with the municipality of San Mateo Sindihui in the Mixteca Alta region of Oaxaca. They are an Indigenous people, in the Mixtec people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Spanish.
