They are an ethnic and linguistic minority living primarily along the Yazgulom River in Gorno-Badakhshan, Tajikistan. They are known for their distinct language, cultural practices, and historical resilience. They are also known as Zǵamiǵai, Yuzdomi Zveg. They are an Indigenous people in the Tajik people cluster of the Persian-Median Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Yazghulami and their primary religion is Shia Islam.
