They are an Indigenous people of the Ecuadorian and Peruvian Amazon, belonging to the Jivaroan (Jívaro) ethnolinguistic family. They are an Indigenous people, in the Amazon people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion - Animism. They primarily speak Shuar.
