They are a subgroup of the Wichí, an indigenous ethnic group originating in Argentina and can also be known as Mataco, Wichi, Pilcomayo Mataco. They are an Diaspora people, in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Pilcomayo Wichí.
