They are an indigenous people living in the Amazon region, primarily along the borders of Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela and can also be known as Issana, Nhengatu, Nhengatu, Baniva, Wakuenai, Dakenei, Baniba, Maniba, Baniua do Içana, Walimanai, Maniba. They are an Indigenous people, in the Amazon people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion - Animism. They primarily speak Baniwa.
