The Arawete of Brazil

The Arawete of Brazil, numbering approximately 475 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are an Amazonian Tupi-Guarani people of the middle Xingu River in Brazil's Para state, contacted only in 1976 after violent conflict with the neighboring Parakana, whose cosmology envisions the dead transformed and consumed by the gods. They mostly adhere to Ethnoreligion and Araweté is their primary language.
