They are an Indigenous people of the Eastern Tukanoan language family, living mainly in the northwestern Amazon along the Uaupés (Vaupés) River basin in Brazil’s Amazonas state, near the border with Colombia They are an Indigenous people, in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion - Animism. They primarily speak Tucano.
